In an explosive development in the Bill Cosby allegations, new reports have been uncovered that prove that America’s favorite television dad gave drugs to at least one woman he had sex with. The star admitted under oath that he got Quaaludes with the intention of giving them to women he wanted to have sex with.
The documents were revealed after the AP went to court to compel them to release the documents. Cosby was deposed in September 2005 after being accused of raping Andrea Constand. She was the first women to come forward with allegations that she was drugged and raped. When the comedian was not charged she sued him in civil court. He later settled after several other women were willing to come forward with their own claims.
Cosby was first outed as a rapist by stand-up comic Hannibal Burress who called out Cosby during his act. He referenced Cosby’s holier than thou stance of not cursing during routines declaring raping women was worse than cursing. His routine went viral and alleged victims started coming out of the woodwork.
The documents also reveal that Cosby admitted under oath to calling Tom Illus at William Morris asking him to send money to one accuser. He reportedly testified that Illus didn’t question why and he wasn’t sure if he asked him to send money to other victims.
Cosby had a deal with NBC and Netflix in the works. Both had been cancelled when the allegations surfaced. He refused to acknowledge the scandal and continued to perform his stand-up. He was applauded at some venues, heckled at others. His wife and daughter stood by him insinuating that the allegations were lies.
His tv wife Phylicia Rashad also came to his defense saying, “forget those women,” before backpedaling and trying to claim she was misunderstood.
The newly released documents certainly make Cosby look guilty. In the deposition he was asked, “When you got the Quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use these Quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?”
His response? “Yes.”
Cosby has made a living setting himself up as a moral authority whether it was chastising comics for cursing during their acts or lecturing black women about the men they were choosing as fathers despite the fact that he was supporting a woman believed to have had his child while he was married. So far no word from Cosby or his lawyer but with Cosby facing civil suits these documents can’t be helpful. Are more settlements in his future?
